Last Days of the Samurai
Traditionally, Sumurai had special position in Japanese society. Japanese peopole believed that only people born of Samuri blood can fight well. But this beleif began to change. Since the government in Japan decided the modernization, the government no longer needed the Samurai. They began to not paid any salary and fored to serve in the modern army with common people. So finally iin 1877, great Satsuma rebellion occured. However, it was defeated by a modern amry, and this broke the belief.

In the Siege of Tottori castle in 1581, the defenders were surrounded for over 200days. They had run out of food, eaten their horses, and weere forced to eat grass. The siege ended when the castle's master, Tsuneie, agreed to commit suicide iin exchange for food for the people in the caslte.

In 1581. while samurais were fighting with their enemy, they were seiged in Tottori castle for 200 days. They were running out of foods. So they had to eat gras, and the horses. So the master of the castle commit suicide to end the seige and exchanage food for the people in the castle.
